Relaxing Week with Riitta in North Karelia in Finland

The natural world is our greatest luxury

You are welcome to come and enjoy it with Riitta!

The unspoilt nature of Nothern Karelia, the beautiful, authentic Finnish birch forest and undulating hills call to you to spend some time at Riitta’s “Pearl of the Eastern Border”! We offer all the necessary ingerdients for a relaxing holiday; a warm sauna, a pristine lake, golden silence and wonderful accommodation in romantic, rustic cottages.

Nature will sooth your mind and Riitta’s local offerings of home-made goodies and baked goods will make even the most discerning gourmet happy. Riitta is also famous for her extensive nutritional knowledge.

You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the soft steam of a traditional wood sauna, followed by a dip in the ”Palju” hot tub or the refreshing waters of Lake Tohmajärvi, and you can even participate in a new sauna experience – the floating sauna.

A guided forest walk introduces you to our region’s unspoiled nature, where you will discover silence, peace and the soothing rustle of birch leaves. You can go berry-picking on your own, and wander among the fields, the lakeshore and the forest. A rowing boat is available for our guest’s use and you can participate in heating the sauna and experience life just like a real Finn!

Riitta offers her guests wonderful Karelian hospitality at her own childhood homestead. You can try your hand at traditional Finnish games like darts and Mölkky, and later at the lakeshore, your body and mind finally unwind as you smell the aroma of fresh campfire coffee and enjoy tasty Finnish pancakes cooked over an open fire. Your nights will be filled with sweet dreams in romantic red cottages with a stunning lake view.
